“During his visit to our school, Mr. Sullivan captivated his audiences. With our younger students, he shared the story behind the book Kay Kay’s Alphabet Safari, photos from a visit to Kenya and talked about the children who live and learn in Kenya. Older students were thoughtful and engaged during a graphic novel work session. Mr. Sullivan’s presentations were informative and engaging for students and teachers alike! Our students loved the personalized notes and drawings that Mr. Sullivan added to the books he autographed.”

I love getting drawings from the kids!
I love to visit schools, from full school assemblies to one -room presentations.
Kids love to draw, so that's what we do. All they need are pencils and some copy paper and we're off creating stories. Drawing along with me, they warm up with doodles, then move on to creating characters, drawing with emotion and without fear of their inner critics, until we create a story with a beginning, middle and TWIST!
I stress that writing and illustrating require hard work, but it is important to have fun, too. This applies to writing, math, music, sports or other challenges as well.
I like to work with local book stores for the purchase of personalized copies of my books.
Every visit is different and dependent on the teacher and students. Give me a shout and we'll make a fun, educational class together.

"Dana was a dynamic, engaging speaker for our K-3rd graders. He gave encouraging messages about writing and drawing, and the kids loved watching him draw! We appreciated hearing the origin of Kay Kay's Alphabet Safari and learning about the Star of Hope school in Kenya."

“I highly recommend Dana Sullivan for an author visit at your school. Dana is engaging and inspires students to become writers and illustrators. It is always magical for students to see an author demonstrate his thinking and the results of hard work and effort. They leave believing that they, too, can write great stories.”

“Dana Sullivan is a wonderful speaker, illustrator, and author. When he drew Ozzie from his book Ozzie and the Art Contest at our school, the audience was enthralled. Teachers and students all wanted more of his time. He educates, entertains, and maintains a rapt audience for his entire presentation. I highly recommend him to any age group.”
